My path to AI wasn't through a startup accelerator or a computer science degree. It started in a research lab, building optical sensors and working on problems that hadn't been solved yet.
At Battelle Memorial Institute, I spent 16 years leading teams that developed real-time chemical monitors, environmental sensors, and fuel cell technologies. I reported findings to Congress, collaborated with international teams across Europe, and won awards for work that actually mattered. That's where I first worked with neural networks—long before anyone called them "AI."
In 2011, I founded Bigger Tuna to bridge the gap between ideas and products. We've brought over 20 innovations to market, from medical devices to industrial equipment. Along the way, I saw how AI could fundamentally change how we work—not just automate tasks, but elevate entire processes.
upStreamLLM is the culmination of that vision—taking the lessons learned from decades of building real things and applying them to AI implementation. No buzzwords. No empty promises. Just practical solutions that move the needle.
